Welcome to the Kappa Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My name is Melissa Remmey, and I am truly honored to serve as Chapter President.
It is difficult to put into words what this chapter has meant to me, but I hope to give you a glimpse of the impact it has had on my life.
From the moment I joined Alpha Phi, I knew I had found something special. It wasn’t just the laughter on the back porch or the late-night conversations that stretched far past midnight — it was the feeling of being fully known and fully supported. In this chapter, I found women who challenge me, uplift me, and stand beside me through every high and low.
Because of Alpha Phi, I never felt homesick during my time at Carolina. Instead, I felt grounded in a community that celebrates individuality, encourages growth, and leads with love. This chapter became my home — not just a place, but a group of women who have shaped the person I am becoming. The friendships I’ve built here will extend far beyond four years. Alpha Phi is not simply a college experience; it is a lifelong sisterhood. The sisterhood you choose at Carolina will shape your confidence, your leadership, and your sense of belonging. I can confidently say that Alpha Phi has shaped me into a stronger, more compassionate, and more confident leader.
Our chapter is filled with women who are driven and accomplished, yet humble and kind. They are the first to celebrate your successes and the first to sit beside you when things feel heavy. Serving as Chapter President has been the greatest honor of my college experience. It has allowed me to give back to the place that gave me a sense of purpose, belonging, and unwavering support. I am endlessly grateful for the women who have walked alongside me and for the opportunity to help lead a chapter that values sisterhood above all else.No matter where life takes us after Carolina, the bonds formed here will remain constant. And that is what makes Alpha Phi so extraordinary.
